RESPONSIBLE FOR: Support service to clients who are homeless, drug and alcohol misuse or disadvantaged individuals.
Our client has an excellent and validated track record of providing high quality outcomes focused support services to a wide range of client groups across the North East. These include people with mental health, alcohol or drug issues, a history of offending, people with learning, physical or sensory impairments and long term conditions, younger or older people with support needs, teenage parents or people at risk of domestic abuse or homelessness.
Our client is currently recruiting for Experienced Project Workers on an ad-hoc basis in the Tyne and wear and Northumberland area. Ideal for flexible hours from part to full time hours, suits a range of people with a range of job and position requirements
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Working as a Project Support Worker, ideally you will have some background experience or knowledge in Housing, Drug and Alcohol, or Mental Health you will have experience providing support and advice to service user as that is a major part of the job role.
This role requires flexibility along with enthusiastic, self-motivated and creative individuals. You need the ability to work on your own initiative in a busy and dynamic role as well as a being a Positive Team Player. This role is for a passionate individual who believes they can make a difference to individual’s lives. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in developing support plans
Carrying out risk assessments, health and safety checks
A good standard of IT skills-word, excel.
Have experience of dealing with the public in a customer service role.
Some roles will require you to work with people, who are homeless, and have mental health, drug or alcohol problems and other venerable people.
You may be working within probation / re-offending services or hostels, housing and supported housing
You will also be working through existing support plans, and promoting independence as much as possible.
You may visit tenants within their own tenancies compiling support plans, developing and maintaining the support plans, carrying out risk assessments and key working with the individuals.
The ability to use your own initiative but also be able to work well as part of a team as you may be liaising with other organisations and assisting service users in accessing additional support services
You should ideally have a clean drivers licence although this is not essential.
Strong people skills are a requirement for almost any job in the social sector but as an Advice and Support Worker these skills will be really tested and essential. An Advice and Support Worker will meet lots of different people regular, so being able to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life is vital.
Previous experience working in a similar service based or community.
It would be beneficial if candidate has previous experience working with various electronic record systems.
