Duties include:

* Supporting and maintaining a consistent person-centered approach to support adults with a learning disability to develop and lead a purposeful and valued lifestyle
* Effectively managing challenging behaviours, appropriately using de-escalation techniques
* Supporting development, whilst maintaining independence, choice and inclusion
* Promote an environment which encourages independence and practices which support individual choices which enhance quality of life
* Recognise and identify individual needs, being committed to the principals of quality and opportunity for all
* Produce tailored support to meet individual needs
* Encourage and support community involvement, ensuring fair access and maximum benefit from all resources and facilities
* Create and maintain effective relationships
* Actively monitor, review, record and evaluate personal plans to a high standard
* Ensuring timely and appropriate care is achieved regarding physical and mental health needs

Essential Requirements:

* Previous experience in Learning Disabilities Support Work
* Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
* Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues fully
* Approachable and personable character
* Ability to display initiative & work effectively in a team
* Proactive with desire to achieve best possible outcomes
